SCRIPTURES
For couples of the Christian or Jewish faiths, the sharing of scripture is very meaningful and serves as a testament to their religious values. Below are some of my favorite verses, from both the New and Old Testament.

New Testament
1 Corinthians 13: 4
Love is patient, love is kind and envies no one. Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude; never selfish, and not quick to take offense. Love keeps no score of wrongs; does not gloat over other's mistakes, but delights in the truth. There is nothing love cannot face; there is no limit to its faith, hope, and endurance. In a word, there are three things that last forever: Faith, hope, and love. The greatest of these is love.
John 15: 9-12
As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
1 Peter: 3
Husbands and wives, give honor unto one another as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers are fulfilled. Be of one mind, having compassion one of another. Love each other; be courteous. Know that you are called, that you shall inherit a blessing.
John 2: 1-10
There was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, which was attended by Jesus, his mother, and the disciples. When they realized that the wine had run out, the mother of Jesus, Mary, said to her son, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said, “What is that to me? My hour has not yet come.” But Mary believed in her son, and she said to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do it.” With that, Jesus told the servants to fill six large pots with water. They filled them to the brim and, upon his command, served it. When the governor of the feast tasted the water that was made wine, he said to the bride and groom, “The good wine is usually served at the beginning of the feast, but you have kept the good wine until now.”
Romans 12:9-12
Let love be genuine; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, persevere in prayer.
Old Testament
Ruth 1: 16
Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.
Psalm 1: 1
Blessed are the man and the woman who have grown beyond themselves and have seen through their separation. They delight in the way things are and keep theirs hearts open, day and night. They are like trees planted near flowing rivers, which bear fruit when they are ready. Their leaves will not fall or wither. Everything they do will succeed.
Song of Solomon
Thou art beautiful, o my love. I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine . My beloved speaks and says to me, arise, my love, my fair one, and come away, for lo, the winter is past. The time of singing has come. The flowers appear on the earth. They give forth fragrance. Arise, my love. Let me see your face and hear your voice. Set me as a seal upon your heart, and wear me as a ring upon your hand. Love flashes like fire. Many waters cannot quench this love. My beloved is mine, and I am his.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two are better than one, for they shall have good reward for their life together. And, if one shall fall, the other will be lifted by his or her companion. When two lie down together, they shall be warmth and companion for each other. Two cords bound together are strong, but the third strand makes their union unshakable.
