Marriage Counseling
and Pre-Marital Counseling

Marriage counseling is sometimes requested by couples in committed relationships who wish to deepen their relationship further.

Rev. Scott Awbrey has supported many couples with pre-marital or couples counseling. These sessions address a range of issues for couples in a committed relationship, including:

  • A look at your family-of-origin experiences and backgrounds
  • Assumptions and expectations in a marriage
  • Communications skills
  • Matters of intimacy: physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual
Couples counseling is not required by Rev. Scott in order for him to perform your wedding ceremony. It is, however, recommended for couples who wish to enter into their marriage from a place of revelation and confidence.

If you’re considering couples counseling and wish to contact Rev. Scott, be prepared to discuss these points in your initial conversation:
  • Why do you want couples or pre-marital counseling? Are both you and your fiancée committed to the process?
  • What are you wanting to accomplish with counseling?
  • What is your religious/faith background, and that of your fiancé’s?
  • Have either of you been married before? Do you have children from a previous marriage?
Counseling is not for the purpose of fixing something in a relationship. It can, however, be an enlightening process.
